ELECTRIFICATION CELEBRATION PLANNED
T o mark the official completion of the electrification project Railways plan to run a special passenger train from Palmerston North to Hamilton on Friday June 24. The two towns are the terminals of the new electrified section. A brief ceremony will be held at stops along the way, including one at Waiouru and one at Ohakune. Railways General Manager says the completion of the project is very significant to Railways' ability to compete on service and price in the freight market.
