VOLCANIC ACTIVITY IN AUCKLAND

Ever heard an Aucklander go on about how crazy it is to live next to a volcano ie Ruapehu? The Dulletin received a press release recently about a civil defence exercise planned to make Aucklanders aware of the volcanoes under their feet. * The release says there have been 48 volcanic eruptions within the Auckland area. "Auckland's volcanic field is fairly unique in having a large number of small eruptions spread over the area. Eruptions never re-occurred in the same vent. We do not know where the next eruption will be sited," says the press release. Cripes! It could be in Queen Street! Is it a case of better the devil you know?
