CHAIRMAN ELECTED

A Taumarunui supermarket owner has been elected as chairman of the Outdoor Pursuits Centre. He is Brian Curran who joined the trust in 1981 as the New Zealand Jaycee representative and has been responsible for finance, administration and sponsorship for the centre. The centre, near Lake Rotoaira, was set up in 1972 to provide outdoor education to young New Zealanders and now caters for 2500 students a year. Brian Curran said he sees the development of programmes for youth at risk and outdoor leaders, along with a million dollar rebuilding programme as an exciting challenge.
