Kururau race on again

Taumarunui's annual "King of the Kururau" 10 mile Road Race is only four w e e k s away. This year's event will be held on Sunday 6 December and will be the sixth time runners will. race from the Domain Grandstand in Morero Terrace to the top of Kururau Hill and retum. The hill section is not as steep as it looks from below and each year all starters have finished. Last year 66 competitors "conquered the Kururau" with race winner Rodger Griffin from Taupo setting a new race record in a time of 59 minutes and 9 seconds. All runners and joggers

are welcome to enter on payment of the appropriate entry fee with T-shirts proclaiming their feat available as an optional extra. Section trophies and spot prizes will be awarded along with certificates for all finishers. As in past years the Taumarunui Milk Vendors are generously sponsoring the race and assisting with refreshment stations along the course. Full race information is included with the entry forms which are available in the Waimarino from Dowman's Four Square - Raetihi, Turoa Information Centre - Ohakune and the AGI Cafe - Waiouru Camp.
