Chills Off events planned
A wide range of activities are planned in the Waimarino over the next three months as fund-rais-ing for the Waimarino 'Chills Off' committee. Raffle tickets for a video, value $999, will be circulated around the area within the next two weeks by committee members. A combined Telethon/Fun Day is being planned from Sunday 4 October and local businesses and organisations are being approached
to lend their support on the day. 'Chills Off' secretary Lance Langdon said the Telethon will run for five hours with live coverage on the local radio station. Activities commence at Ohakune and will progress in a circuit covering Tohunga Road, Valley Road, Raetihi and finally back to Ohakune, taking in the Golf Club, Gun Club, Squash and Tennis Clubs and other organisations. "We are looking for maximum participation from all Waimarino residents
and as many organisations as possible to make the day a success," he said. "The more clubs that participate the greater number of activities there will be on the day." A four-page pamphlet outlining the 'Chills Off committee and its objectives will be circulated to every household in the Waimarino within the next month to increase community awareness of the committee. A cabaret to be held in Raetihi is also planned for October.
