Last blues and Rock & Roll tour
This time last year Midge Marsden had just completed his now very popular "blues" commercial 'Travellen On' for Europa and was winging off to the United States for a holiday and to discover personal music root«. Since returning, he has been working constantly with various lineups including Andy Dickson, Liam Ryan and Tony Waine from the Narcs and more recently Dave McArtney of Hello Sailor. Also a permanent feature of the Midge Marsden Band are the "dynamic" female duo Alexa and Melanie Forbes known as Mango. Originally from Te Awamutu (Finn country) they toured the world busking for two years and are now gaining a big following and reputation of their own. This current NZ tour will be the last for Midge Marsden as he is heading
back to America to live and work, taking advantage of the contacts he made last year. The music is still strongly blues orientated and along with regular players Kevin Thomas on drums, Ray Chaber on guitar, Sid Lambert on bass this band includes DD Smash guitarist Gary Verberne. Gary is fast becoming one of the country's hottest talents and has just finished working with "When The Cat's Away' and now joins Midge for his farewell tour. As Midge says "this show features the Mango sisters on their own to warm up the crowd with a mixture of originals and well known songs followed by the full seven piece lineup to take you through the night with a variety of blues and good time rock and roll. Midge will be appearing in the Ruapehu region this weekend at Hot Lava in Ohakune Friday 24 and Monday 27, and at the Chateau Tongariro Saturday and Sunday.
