Ohakune Teacher Farewelled

A very popular and wellliked teacher was given a fond farewell by staff and pupils of Ohakune Primary School, when she left recently to take up a position in Palmerston North. Prue Kyle took up the position of senior teacher at Monrad Intermediate on 13 July, a similar position to the one she occupied in Ohakune. While she is there, she will also be concentrating on completing her teacher's degree at Massey University. Prue taught at the school for four and a half years, for a time as a relieving teacher, for one year as an intermediate class teacher and, following promotion, as senior teacher. She came from a relieving position at Patea School and before that had spent some time overseas. Prue was in charge of implementing the school's new health syllabus, as well as the re-organisation of the library. Her position as senior teacher being responsible for the Standard Three to

Form Two syndicate and teaching Form's One and Two. She was also in charge of the organisation of senior sports and helped with children's Saturday netball coaching. Prue was involved with a number of sports groups including netball and indoor basketball. She is a keen skier and was in charge of Ohakune school's senior ski programme. Her interest in playing piano and guitar saw her assisting in school musicals and other functions. She actively took part in helping with choir arrangements for Maungarongo Marae's annual Easter Hui. When not involved with school, she was a keen bridge player and a financial member of a shares investment group. Her position was filled by Mrs Rita Wise, who was promoted from teaching the Standard One class. Mrs Wise has taught at Ohakune Primary School for six years.
