Raetihi man killed
A well-known Raetihi man, Konrad Kim Te Ope Gray, 23, was killed in a freak accident last Tuesday, when he and the horse he was riding fell over a bluff in the Mangapurua Valley. Mr Gray was one of a party of four men who were hunting in the valley. The accident occurred at about 2pm.
His three companions tried unsuccessfully for about half an hour to revive him, before one of the men set out on horseback to find help. Local police were alerted of the accident from Ruatiti Station. Mr Gray's body was picked up at first light on Wednesday morning by helicopter.
