Boys' soccer finish well

Ohakune Junior Soccer teams played Taihape at Ohakune last week. The under-!3s scored after five minutes through Karl Ram. Good passing from the back by Steven Burgess enabled Peter Samson to score the second goal. Taihape passed very well • during the game but found it difficult getting the ball past the backs and Matthew Fetzer. After halftime Peter Samson got another two goals. Taihape scored three quick goals and this got Ohakune moving again. Mario and Kaleb with the help of Peter Fetzer got the ball back into Taihape's half and put on more pressure. Vaughan didn't have a great deal to do in goal, but at one time he saved a beaut by hitting it over the bar. Scott Giltrap played a much improved game at midfield. Peter Fetzer, Corban Tumataroa and Mario Mareikura scored a goal each to make the final score Ohakune 7 - Taihape 3. Taihape being short of players for the Under-lOs game some of the Ohakune players were shared so the game could be more even. Thank you to the three players who played for Taihape. What a pity these kids have finished the normal

competition as they are playing so well. They are passing the ball very well and tackling with great success. Bevan Giltrap got the first goal for Ohakune almost on halftime to give Ohakune the lead. Glenn was in goal for this game and he saved some good shots. Samuel Tailby was very fast and great support to the rest of the team. Michael Hope and Steven Wilson played a good defensive game which helped the goalkeeper. Bevan Giltrap was a big worry to Taihape as he was always there for any loose ball. Bevan got four goals and Samuel got one making the final score Ohakune 5 - Taihape 0. The teams that have

played so well this season are: Under 13s, Corban and Kaleb Tumataroa, Vaughan Bekker, Karl Ram, Peter Samson, Peter and Matthew Fetzer, Steven Burgess, Scott Giltrap and Mario Mareikura. Hemi Hibbard and Dean Smith played once. Under 10s, Adrian Fetzer, Bevan and Glenn Giltrap, Samuel and Jonathan Tailby, Lyndsay Chan, Steven Wilson, Damion Scully, Caroline Haack, Ben and Daniel Christie, Issac Huriwaka, Douglas Beisly and Michael Hope. The next game is the 7aside tournament at Turangi on 21 September. Parents who came to watch and support are thanked.
