Fireman theft leaves a sour taste
While Ohakune Volunteer fire brigade members were practising recently, vehicles parked at the rear of the station were entered and goods were stolen. Ben Goddard lost a camera containing a valuable film of a family wedding, of his children and other important photographs. He appealed to the person responsible to return this irreplaceable film and said he was keener to get the film back than the camera. Mr Goddard said the cars were parked under floodlight and that chief fire officer, Max Martin was in the station at the time doing book work. "It's coming to the stage when weH have to lock vehicles even when we go to fires in the middle of the night," said Mr Goddard. ff is certainly upsetting that people doing essential community work which benefits us all are subject to such behaviour.
