House burnt

A Waiouru camp house was almost totally destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. Two appliances from Waiouru were called to the Carr Crescent house at about 6.15am. Two Ohakune appliances also attended the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be a domestic heater which overturned, said Major Brian Stewart. The sole occupant of the house received slight burns to her arms and was in Waiouru Base Hospital on Monday morning for observation. Major Stewart said it was likely the house would be pulled down as it was irreparable.
