Motorists caught

Fifty vehicles were stopped at check-points around Ohakune over Easter weekend. Of those stopped, nine drivers were breath-tested and seven are facing possible court prosecutions. Motorists were stopped between 11pm and 1.30am and officers came from Wanganui, Turangi and Waiouru for the check. Traffic sergeant Ron Buchanan from Taumarunui said check-points such as this can happen at any time.
