Waiouru Advisory Committee meeting
A public roller skating rink is being built near the Waiouru Community Centre, the Waiouru Community Advisory Committee was told at last Monday's meeting. It is expected that the rink will be completed at the beginning of next year. Stage one is underway and army engineers are pouring concrete. and building hand rails, kickboards and night lights, following plans prepared by the Ministry of Works and Develop-
ment. Clubrooms, amenities and a tiered-seating block will be built in stage two. Funds for the rink have been raised by the community and from army welfare and navy funds. ★ ★ ★ A telephone is to be installed near Patterson rugby and softball field, in case medical help is needed during games. ★ ★ ★ There was concern at the meeting about the amount of litter around State High-
way 1 between the camp and the rubbish dump, and members of the community were reminded to tie down covers over trailer loads of rubbish. ★ ★ ★ Rangitikei County Council has recently introduced a door-to-doordog-dosing service. The committee thanked the county for this. ★ ★ * The committee is writing to the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board asking why power bills are being received irregularly by resi-
dents, and why power readings are not being done. Some residents have received high power bills when only estimates have been carried out.
