Fifty stitches

Mr Doug Sanders of Ohakune, received fifty stitches at Waiouru Military Hospital, following an accident at the Winstone Samsung pulp mill on Thursday. Mr Sanders fell seven metres while carrying out inspection work in the mill's refinery area. Mill manager, Mr Ake Nelson, said on Friday that the accident was being investigated, but it appeared that Mr Sanders had moved a thick piece of plywood which had carried a hole in a walkway and down to the next level. The mill's production manager, Mr Dave AndersonAaid that Mr Sanders received forty stitches in a large cut to his knee and ten stitches in a gash on his head. Mr Sanders is now recovering at home.
