Racing with BULLY

Trentham again turned on some excellent races and with the track made to order for Imaprince, just enough rain to make the going 'easy', it was almost a forgone conclusion that he would be in there at the finish and so it turned out. Secured Deposit was gallant in defeat and Duanettes Girl ran a great race for third. The Derby was no trouble to Sir Vigilant and he left the others behind in the run in to

the post. Splendidly ridden by Noel Harris too. The Jarden mile saw Bully's tip, Atrapar win a very tight finish and at 27 to 1, if you please. All readers will be sorry to hear of Mrs Karen Thornley and her serious accident at Ellerslie last weekend. At time of writing this column she was still in intensive care and in a critical condition. Karen had ridden well over 100 winners and was a very capable rider. She also trained a small team at Cambridge. We wish her the

very best of luck for a speedy and permanent recovery. This week we have Waikato racing at Te Rapa and one I am very keen on would be First Sovereign. His condition cannot be faulted and he looks a fine chance to me. Probably to be ridden by Baz Dowling. Madam Fox also trained at Te Rapa could also come home at reasonable odds. From Matamata I hear that Orangeade is in hard fettle and he too could help pay some of those Christmas accounts.

Jimmy The Greek and Hey Presto are from Cambridge and are sure to run good honest races, while if Mighty Lew goes down from Pukekohe he is pretty sure to repay his investors. In the central North Island, Rangitikei will be racing at Awapuni and yes, this track is getting considerable use and there are those who believe the track is being overtaxed at present. It is to be hoped that weather conditions will be on the club's side and that

the conditions will be firm to fast. Chimo has been impressive at Woodville while Both Barrells has been doing pleasing work. His race on the first day at Trentham has probably helped him considerably. He has a ton of speed when in the mood. Bess also has a win or two left in her for this time up. Trained on the course is Super Tai and so is Zamyntor, both of whom should show up here. Remember Bully tips them first and you have read it in the Bulletin.
