Racing with BULLY

The second day at Wanganui was another eventful one with the late scratching of the horse, Harrys Boy by the stewards immediately before the commencement of racefour. By the amount of activity in the birdcage after the rest of the field had left for the barrier it was obvious that something was amiss and rumour was rife that we had a ring-in on our hands. The markings on the horse did not agree with those on the official records and in my opinion the

officials did the only thing open to them and withdrew Harrys Boy from the race. As it has now been revealed the error lay with the NZ Racing Conference through a clerical error and it is to be hoped that Conference does the only decent thing now and reimburse the connections and jockey for the expense it entailed in bringing the horse down from Pukekohe. Incident number two was in the first leg, when Raes Dream ^tumbled and fell while passing the winning post on the first round. Kiwi was following immediately behind this horse and with great presence of mind, horse and jockey Noel Harris reefed in and neatly hurdled the fallen Raes Dream and jockey E. Lamb. This interference greatly affected Kiwi's momentum and there was no show for him thereafter. Most importantly there did not appear to be too much wrong with Kiwi when he returned to scale and that is a blessing.

Raffles Esquire was very impressive in winning again and this fellow will have more where those two came from before long. Another most impressive performance came from Kerykion when he won the second leg with ridiculous ease. He carried top weight of 58!4 kilos and cleared out to win by four lengths, We all know how good Fothers is and his performance in winning the Tim Rogers Stakes was a grand effort. This week we see Hawkes Bay holding spotlight in the Central Districts and I understand Kiwi will be appearing here. I am still waiting to see Commissionaire out again but one I would stay on side with is Passive Prince while Vincere could also carry on with his Wanganui form where he chalked up a win and a second. Bully's special this week will be Wimsey. Remember Bully tips them first and you have read it in the Bulletin.
