Manslaughter charge

In the Taihape District Court last Thursday Stephen William Jackson, 25, recreation officer, formerly employed by an Ohakunebased adventure tour company was remanded to appear before the High Court in Wanganui on 29 October on a charge of manslaughter. The charge arose after a Wellington woman was killed in an accident on the Rangitikei River last year. Jackson was remanded on bail of $5,000 with two sureties of the same amount, and was required to surrender his passport.
