Editor's Note
In the interests of balance the Bulletin invited Ohakune Mayor Bill Taylor to put the council's view to the above letter. Mr Taylor initially declined to comment on the issues as he considered his letter in last week's Bulletin sufficient response. However he did find Mr Heappey 's conclusions on the matter of re-siting old houses "eccentric"and "selfindictment indeed. " Mr Taylor continued: "Objectors to his (Mr Heappey 's) previous proposals to re-site an old house may well see this issue in a different light. Ample evidence already abounds around the town that, indeed, the council would have strong grounds to be more strict in granting applications for re-siting old buildings." A further invitation to Mr Heappey to stand for the council would be "superfluous", Mr Taylor says, in view of his previous candidacy.
