RUGBY
After an excellent season, Waiouru Rugby Club, who were earlier in the year promoted from the third to the second division, lost the game that would have taken them up to the premier division to join neighbouring Ohakune. Despite being clear winners of their division at the completion of round two in the Wanganui senior rugby championship, Waiouru
could not continue their fine form in the semi-final match against Utiku Old Boys who finished fourth in the second round going down at home by 21-16. They now play Technical College Old Boys next Saturday for the third and fourth positions. Joining Raetihi at Wanganui's headquarters on Saturday will be Ohakune, who qualified for the President's Rosebowl Final, to be played at 3 o'clock by defeating Marist Celtic in a tight match 16-6. Their opponents will be Wanganui High School Old Boys who beat Kaierau in their semifinal 16-0. Ruapehu College Old Boys completed a mixed day for Waimarino rugby teams by winning their fourth division semi-final against Ohakune Seconds, 46-0. They started the season in Division Five and have shown great form to be promoted to the third for next year. Results Ohakune 16, Marist Celtic 6; Waiouru 16, Utiku
Old Boys 21; Waverley 6, Raetihi 13; Ruapehu College Old Boys 46, Ohakune Seconds 0.
