NETBALL

Saturday's games in the senior and junior netball competitions, were played in perfect weather conditions and a large crowd was entertained with some close games. In the Senior 'A' competition, Raetihi 'A' remain unbeaten after their impressive showing against Ruapehu College 'A'. At halftime it looked as if the game could go either way, with the score poised at 9-8 to College, but Raetihi showed the superior finishing to win 20-14. Rauna Tehuia at Goal Shoot showed tremendous form considering she was released from hospital, after sustaining a back injury, only days before. Goal Attack, Evelyn Hawira was playing her first game of the season. The match between Central and M.G.'s was a scrappy affair where the netball played did not reach any great heights. There was also a certain amount of indiscipline displayed by some players who backchatted to the umpire. At half-time M.G.'s led 9-2 and finally won by 19-6. In the Match of the Day in the B Grade competition, Raetihi 'B' played Raetihi 'C\ The latter team's form this season has not been particularly spectacular, but on Saturday they showed their clubmates that they were every bit as good as them, by drawing the game 15-15.
