SEXUAL ABUSE CLINIC
A Sexual Abuse Clinic has been set up in Wanganui supported by the police, welfare and psychiatric profesSionals. This is a counselling service and provides a supportive environment for those who have been molested and their families. The centre, with headquarters in Purnell House, Purnell St, Wanganui provides it's services to the whole of the Wanganui
Hospitai Board area. It provides counselling and education together with medical assistance to anyone who is the victim of sexual abuse or harassment. The organisation eventually hopes to provide a 24 hour telephone service for sexual abuse victims. Members are also available to talk to schoolor community groups to develop increased awareness of the social problems of sexual abuse.
