IDENTITIES DIE
Two well-known Raetihi identities have died recently. On January 3, Alfred Henry (Alf) Timmo died at Taumarunui Hospital, aged 76, after a long illness. A bushman and logging contractor, Alf turned, in his retirement, to making fine handcrafts out of the timber with which he'd worked all his life. His wife, Gladys, died in 1 976 but he is survived by his 6 daughters and 2 sons plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. On January 12, Christian Le Fevre (Fred) Honore died at Wanganui Base Hospital, aged 101.
Fred Honore worked from 1901 until 1962 working for Carter Merchants as an accountant until he retired at the age of 80. He continued to practice accountancy in a small way locally until he was 98. Mr Honore came to Raetihi in 1916 on transfer from Carter's Mangaweka branch and lived in Raetihi until late last year when he became hospitalised. His wife died some years ago and they had no children, however he survived by his sist^Hk Christine Signal of Foxton who is 91.
