Sports grants
I noted with regret your letter from Mr Glynn Hubbard stating disappointment at not receiving a grant from the Wanganui Savings Bank for the Turoa Tumblers. Truly he ought to have been at least grateful that his club has been favoured in past years. Is it not somebody else's turn after all? There are other bodies working just as hard for the community as he is. The Ohakune people have been bled by the Turoa Tumblers selling tickets and sponsoring events, cake days, donations, while only a handful really benefit from such money. As for asking 7-year old children to sell tickets for a Casino night proved he had little regard for their safety and many parents have the right to forbid their children to ask for money in this way. Frankly he is obsessed with his gymnastics and I was not impressed by his greed.
