Turoa to conduct ski instructor courses

Stage I and II Ski Instructors' courses will be held at Turoa from 9-16 October inclusive. The 8 day course involves 6 days of intensive training where candidates improve their own skiing and demonstration techniques. They also study «ects of ski teaching such | class handling and trol and choice of terrain. The final 2 days involve examinations of skiing and teaching. The Stage I course is for people who.can ski all conditions, hold a Test International Silver Badge and preferably have some ski teaching experience. The Stage II course is for instructors who have passed Stage I and have since addedconsiderable instructing experience to their repertoire as well as being very strong skiers in all conditions. School Director, and Craig Spieff of the Chateau Ski School, organise Test International and must sign all applications. These are available from them and must be in the Christchurch office of the NZSIA (New Zealand Ski Instructors' Alliance) Incorporated 10 days prior to the course; In the unlikely event of the course at Turoa being cancelled due to lack of snow, an announcement would be made before the end of September so candidates could transfer to the Mount.Hutt course (30 September - 7 October). The New Zealand Ski Instructors' Alliance Incorporated Instructors' Manual is required reading for ' the courses and is on sale at Kapai Bookshop, Turoa Information Centre, Junction Ski Shop and Sports Country.
