CRICKET.

The Tatararaki C. C.’s Married and Single match was played in Mr Martin Cobbald’s paddock and gave rise to a good game. The Single men went first to the wickets and put together a total of 68 runs, the principal scorers being Rice and T. Elliott who ran up 20 and 19 respectively. The Married men only reached 51, Janies Molloy 13, and W. Legge 12 being the only double figures. Both the Aratapu and Tatarariki Clubs are in want of a good ground. They could make splendid use of the Mangawhare ground were it a little closer. The Married Men suffered defeat at all points last Saturday, but we believe they are to be given an opportunity of retrieving tfceir position tomorrow afternoon. At Aratapu the benedicts were weakened loth in batting and bowling by the absence of Marcroft who was unable to play owing to an accident by which his arms were injured. The Married Men batted first and put together a score of 40 runs, the only double figures being Stallworthy 19. The Single Men were not disposed of till they had run up their score to SS. J. Elliott 39 and Masefield 21 were the only doubles. Each side has now scored a victory and the final is to be played tomorrow. Mr M.'O’Connor, president of the Aratapu C. C., put in an appearance on the cricket ground last Saturday and was greeted with three cheers. Mr O’Connor who subscribed liberally to football has forwarded the A. C. C. a donation of two pounds.
