DARGAVILLE RIFLE CLUB .
At the annual meeting of the above Club, held in Mr McLeod’s office, Dargaville, the following members were present :—Messrs J. M. Dargaville, px-esident (in the chair), A. Wilson, H Haswell, J. Lindley, S. Webb, and W. J. Bassett. After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and passed, Mr Dargaville wished to resign his position as president, but was asked by the meeting to retain his present office which he consented to do. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing year : —ManagingCommittee, Messrs Haswell, Wilson, Lindley, S. Webb, and W. J. Bassett. Mr Me Leod to act as Club Secretary.—The statement of accounts after being read was passed; the Club being about six pounds in credit after paying all liabilities.—lt was decided that the Dargaville members be notified during the coming week to receive their arms back from the Secretary’s office, and if the same be not reclaimed after a certain date to be specified they be handed over to the new contingent about to bo formed at Arapohue. Mr S. Webb proposed that the iron targets be given to the Kopuru-Aratapu Contingent. Mr Findley proposed an amendment that the targets be given to the new Contingent at Ai-apohue so as to encourage their formation. He said the Aratapu contingent had first-class butts which were erected at considerable cost, and bo himself preferred the canvass targets, as the marking was much more quickly and accurately done on them, which could be borne out by other members present. The proposition and the amendment was put to the meeting and four voted for the targets going to Arapohue and one against. Mr Dargaville agreed to send down at once for all back ammunition due and when it arrives the contingent will bo able to start firing.
