SCENIC BUSH RESERVE.
ACQUISITION SUGGESTED. BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY TO INVESTIGATE. A recommendation was made to the executive at the annual meeting of the Masterton Beautifying Society last evening to consider the acquisition of an area of native bush adjacent to the borough for a scenic reserve. Mr.'S.Selby moved that it be a recommendation to the incoming executive to make enquiries about any area of native bush in the vicinity of the borough of Masterton that could be purchased for the purposes of a scenic reserve. He was inclined to think that the Minister of Lands would be sympathetic regarding tho purchase. The president (Dr. Archer Hosking) thought that there might bo some difficulty regarding tho financing of the purchase.
Mr. W. Kemp observed that if an area of ten to twenty acres .could be decided upon, there would not be so much difficulty about its acquisition as was thought as he was ofthe opinion that the Borough Council could assist.
