A verdict that death was due to a bullet wound self-inflicted, while mentally depressed was returned yesterday by the Auckland Coroner (Mr. W. B. McKean) at the conclusion of an inquest concerning the death of George Maurice Langley Ryan, who shot himself at his father-in-law’s residence at Epsom early on the morning of,February 12.—(P.A.). At the Mauriceville District sports meeting on Saturday, in addition to the results published, the chain-step-ping event wap won by M. Andrews. The large number of visitors who attended the meeting spoke in. complimentary terms of the excellent arrangements made by the officials and the energetic secretary (Mr. E. W. Cheetham). Mr. E. L. A meeting of shop-keepers and pro-perty-owners interested in the Thursday half-holiday movement will be held in the Trades Hall on Wednesday, at 8 p.m. Mr. K. Russell elsewhere notifies that he is again opening ifi business in Masterton as a general dealer, in premises corner of Queen Street and Jackson Street. During this week Mr. Russell will be pleased if any resident who may wish to dispose of anything will ring ’phone 1884. On Thursday next, at ?.3O p.m., the Masterton Auctioneering Co. will sell by Public Auction the shop fittings and fixtures of the premises recently occupied by London Unlimited.
