PRESENTATION.
MR. ALLAN EVANS FABEWELLED.
At the Masterton Club on Saturday night, Mr. Allan Evans, of the Loan and Mercantile Co., who is leaving shortly on transfer to Auckland, was farewelled by a large number of friends, including Messrs A. G. Lawson (manager of the Bank of Australasia), J. Caselberg (W.F.CA.), D. B. Carrick (Dalgety and Co.), A. MeDon(Uevin and Co), K. Mcßcan Stewart (Murray Roberts and Co.), A. McDonald, D. Buchanan, H. J. W. Lord and other representative commercial men and farmers. In asking Mr. Evans to accept a beautiful solid gold cigarette base, as a parting gift from his friends in Masterton, Mr. Lawson spoke in high terms of the respect and esteem in which Mr. Evans was held and of the regret felt at his departure. Several other speakers paid similar tributes to Mr. Evans and offered him their best wishes for his continued success and prosperity. Mr. Evans made an appropriate speech of acknowleo®. ment and spoke of the regret he felt in leaving Masterton and the good friends hel had made here.
