REPAIRS AUTHORISED. „
ACTION BY TRUST LANDS TRUST.
The Masterton Trust Lands Trust at its meeting last evening, decided te carry out repairs to the Opera House, and tenders for the work
were accepted. The Building and Leasing Committee, reporting to the Trustees, stated that its members had met the directors of the Masterton Picture Company in reference to the sanitary arrangements at the Opera House. Mr. W. K. Kemball, managing director of the company, attended the meeting, and in reply to questions submitted by tho committee, stated that his company placed no obstacle in the way of travelling companies visiting Masterton, Monday and Tuesday in each week were available for travelling companies. The reason that some of the best theatrical companies did not visit Mastenton was that tho Opera House seating accommodation was not large enough to permit the companies making the visit a payable proposition. Mr. Kemball stated that his company would be willing to pay eight per cent, interest per annum, on an expenditure of not more than £250, for improving the sanitary system and dressing rooms at the Opera House.
The Trust architect was instructed by the committee to obtain prices for the following work: Fix fiJtr new basins downstairs and two in the dressing rooms upstairs. That would provide the main dressing rooms with wash-basins. Fix mirrors in four dressing rooms, distemper the dressing rooms repair windows, and paint woodwork of stairs, and dressing room doors. The report of the committee was adopted and the tenders of Mr. A. R. Golder at £72, and Messrs Rigg Bros., at £Bl, accepted.
