HALF-HOLIDAY ISSUE.
THE COMING POLL. MEETING OF SATURDAY SUPPORTERS. A meeting of those interested in the retention of the Saturday half-holiday was held last evening. Mr. G. Hayne was elected to the chair and in addressing the gathering stressed the need for thorough organisation to make success certain. He warned the meeting against last election’s result creating an atmosphere of apathy. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr. G. Hayne; treasurer, Mr. E. W. Tooby; finance committee, Messrs. G. Daubney, A. H. Brennan, L. S. Nicol. The appointment of a secretary was held over. Various committees were set up to canvass for enrolments :?nd prelimin ary details for the campaign were arranged. A general meeting of supporters will be held next week. TRADES UNION SUPPORT. At a meeting of the Masterton Trades and Labour Council held last evening a resolution was passed unanimously supporting Saturday for the weekly half holiday.
