TUBERCULOSIS.
TREATMENT AND CONTROL. CONFERENCE DECISIONS. CHRISTCHURCH, March 1. A special conference of representatives of the hospital boards of the Dominion was heli to-day to discuss tho proposals of Dr. Blackmore, Superintendent of the Canterbury Tuberculosis Sanatoria, for a Dominion scheme for the treatment of tuberculosis. The proposals comprised the establishment in each island of an organisation of hospital boards to provide and maintain tuberculosis dispensaries, air homes and sanatoria for incipient cases, special hospitals for advanced eases, working colonies for patients on the way to recovery and generally to control comprehensive preventive measures in respect to tuberculosis.
The conference discussed the scheme in committee and at the conclusion it was reported that it had been resolved to recommend to the general conference to-morrow to refer the matter to the executive of the Hospital Boards’ Association to take whatever evidence it considered necessary and to submit its recommendations to a further conference of the association.—(P.A.)
