THE BUCHANAN CUP MATCH. WON BY WAIRARAPA. In the first contest since 1914 for the Buchanan Cup, the Wairarapa Polo Club’s A team defeated the Waipukurau team by 18 goals to nil The enp was presented by the late Sir Walter Buchanan for competition between these' clubs. Unfortunately the visitors were unable to bring their best team, but those who did play made a very creditable showing despite the large margin of points against them, 't’ho weethefc was ideal for polo, and the attendance at the club’s grounds, near Martinborough, was above the average, considerable interest being taken in tho revival of the competition. The teams were:—Wairarapa: H. Martin (1), H. Hewitt (2), R.,N. Barton (3), D. H. H. Riddiford (4); Waipukurau: W. Crampton (1), N. Holden (2), E. Wilder (3), Bevan Williams (4). The Wairarapa team displayed good combination, with pace and accurate hitting. Goals were scored by Hewitt 7, Barton 5, Riddiford 4 and Martin 2, In a match between B teams from, the two clubs, Wairarapa were successful by 12 goals to 1. H. B. Maun sell 4, W. Howard Booth 5, D. C. Collins 2 and F. Hewitt 1 scored the goals. Mr. K. Mcßean Stewart was umpire and Mr. G. H. Perry timekeeper. At the conclusion of the jnatches Mr W. E. Bidwill presented the cup to the winning team, miniature cups, given by himself, to the winners of the B match.
