SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

AND LIFE-SAVING DISPLAY. INVITATION TO SCHOOLS. Mr. W. S. L. Dickson, presided over a full attendance of the committee of the Masterton Swimming Club last c-vening when the officials for the carnival on Tuesday (February 22) were appointed as follows: Starter, Mr. W. S. L. Dickson; check starter, Mr F. G. Robbie; referee, Mr J. A. Smith; call steward, Mr F. C. Evans; swimming judges, Messrs A. V. Faulknor, T. A. Russell, C. R. Mabson and W. Darville; timekeepers, Messrs L. S. Nicol and J. Bradbury; shed steward, Mr N. Fly; diving judges, Messrs J. A. Smith and F. G. Robbie-; assistant .secretary, Mr H. Mackley. Messrs D. Welch, J. Gardner and G. Fcrmain were appointed a programme committee. Fourteen new members were elected. The arrangements for the demonstration of life-saving to school children at the West School baths by the visiting Maranui team were left to Mr. W. S. L Dickson. The Maranui Surf and Life-Siaving team will arrive by the 2 p.m. train on Tuesday and will proceed direct to the Masterton West baths to give an exhibition of land drill and life-saving. Invitations will be extended to Masterton West School, Solway College, Solway School, St. Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls, Fernridge School and Whatman Schoo! pupils, Standards 4 to 6 inclusive, to be present. At 3.30 p.m. a display will be given at the Dixon Street baths. An invitation will be extended to the Wairajapa High School, Masterton Central School, St. Patrick’s School, Lansdowne School, and Te Ore Ore School, Standards 4 to 6 inclusive.

The public are cordially invited to .ttend the displays.
