PETITION FOR THURSDAY - CLOSING.

SEVEN HUNDRED SIGNATURES. A petition -will be presented to the Borough Council at its next .meeting asking for the institution of the Thursday half-holiday in Masterton. The number of signatures required to ensure a poll is ten per cent, of the total number of municipal electors.. Roughly five hundred signatures would thus be required in Masterton. It is understood that the petition to be presented on Tuesday bears about seven hundred signatures. A poll is thus assured.
