WEDDING.

MATHESON—BARRELL. A wedding of considerable interest to the residents of the district took place on Wednesday of last week at Rangiora, North Canterbury, when Beatrice, eldest daughter of Mr. Mark Barrell, cne of the oldest and most respected residents of Eketahuna, was married to James P. Matheson, only surviving son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Matheson of “Tiratahi,” Rongomai. The marriage, which was after the manner of the Religious Society of Friends, took place at a meeting for worship which was held at the residence of Mrs. Gerald Beattie, Ashley Street, Rangiora, The sister of the bride. The bridesmaid was Miss Vera Barrell and Mr. lan Anderson of Kurow, Central Otago, was the • best man. Those present were Mr. Mark Barrell, the father of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Beattie, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Matheson of Rongomai, the father and mother of the bridegroom, Mr and Mrs Henry Wardell (Otaira-te-paio, Central Otago), Miss Matheson (Havelock North), Miss Molly Matheson (Rongomai). Mr. Duncan Anderson (Kurow), Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Thorne, and the Misses Margaret and Mary Thorne (Sefton, North Canterbury). After the ceremony the guests were taken by motors to Woodend Beach, where a dainty wedding breakfast was served and the afternoon spent as a picnic.
