THE SHOW
FINAL DETAILS IN HAND. OPENING DAY EVENTS. FULL AND VARIED PROGRAMME. After many months of arduous preparatory - work, arrangements for what promises to be one of the most noteworthy and successful Shows ever organised by the Masterton A. and P. Association are now to all intents and purposes completed. Little more now remains than to invite the public to take the opportunity they are offered on Tuesday and Wednesday next, of spending pleasant and interesting days on the beautiful grounds at Solway. At some A. and P. shows, the first day is wholly and solely a judging day, but at the Masterton Show plenty of entertainment is provided for the public on. Opening Day as well as on People’s Day. The ring events and other competitions set down for Opening Day cover a wide and interesting range. They include, in addition to the sheep dog trials, which arc always well worth watching, a series of jumping and other ring competitions for horses and ponies. An apple-bobbing competition, stockmen’s competition, and flag race have a place in the list. To look over the list of events is to realise that there will be no lack of entertainment.
Prominence has already been given to the fact that the principal stock classes are particularly well filled this year, and that there will be an impressive display of the various kinds of fat stock. The showing of fat lambs, it is declared by those who are in a position to know, will be as good as could be witnessed in any part of New Zealand. The fat cattle section also will be well filled, in spite of the fact that Mr. J. W. Buchanan, on account of his early departure for England, has not been able to make his usual entry. It is anticipated that the Show catalogue will be available on Monday.
