MEETING OF DIRECTORS. The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. was held last evening in the Association ’s room. The usual reports covering tne months of December and January wore read and adopted. These covered the activities cf the Association among the boys of the community, and included talks and special evenings in the Boys’ Department, vocational talks and assistance at the public schools prior to the holidays, a ten days’ camp for boys in January, child welfare work, and contacting with House boys in the district. , Other forms of community service were rendered as occasion offered, and the rooms continued to be the meeting place for other organisations in town. Accounts amounting to £27 3s ‘d were passed for payment. It was decided to ask Mr. A. J. Daysh and Mr. A. E. Bate to act as Association’s delegates to the biennial convention of the New Zealand Y.M.C.A.’s to be held in Wellington in March. Mr. G. Joy was appointed as substitute. A sub-c.ommittee was appointed to go into the matter of the advisability of employing a man to concentrate on gymnasium and physical culture work. The consent of the original donor having been secured, it was decided to offer the Y.M.C.A. swimming shield for competition among junior boys. Th-?, conditions attaching to this offer had already been communicated to the Swimming Club under whose direction and control the shield was to be competed for. A motion of sympathy was expressed with the president (Mr* G. W. Morice) in the great loss he had sustained through the destruction of his house by fire It was decided to send a remit to the biennial convention suggesting that if possible the names and addresses of all Flock House boys bo forwarded to Y.M.C.A. secretaries with a view to enabling the associations to entertain them when in the centres on holidays, and making contact with them in other wavs.
