THE LATE LADY WARD.
FUNERAL AT WELLINGTON. MANY MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY. WBLLINGTQN, February 10. The funeral of tho late Lady Ward took place to-day, the cortege leaving the family residence at Herntaunga in the afternoon for the Southern, ferry boat. A short service was conducted at the House by the Rev. G. V. Kendrick, Anglican minister at Hutt, prior to the funeral leaving for Wellington. Besides the family, many friends wfrre present at the service. The Cabinet was represented by the Mon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs. The cortege proceeded to Wellinglon, where it was joined by leading citizens, representatives of the Gtvernment Departments and butdnet* institutions. The chief mourners were Sis Joseph Ward, his sons Vincent and Pat, his ,daughter Mrs. Wood arid his daughtor-in-law, Mrs. Wrfcent Ward. Amongst tho messages of sympathy were telegrams from the GoveEnnr-General and others from the Prime Minister, Aot-ing-Prime Minister, Cabinet Minister*, the Leader of tho Opposition, and the ‘Leader of the Nationalist Party. Cablegrams came from overseas as far as China and Japan.— (Va..).
