ARSENIC IN APPLES.
PROSECUTION IN LONDON. FRUIT FROM AMERICA. (Received Wednesday, 11.50 p.m.) LONDON, February 8. The first arsenic in apples prosecution of the current American season occurred at Brentford. Last year’s publicity should have induced growers to minimise spraying, but apparently it had not done so, said the prosecutor. The fruit contained .05 grains of arsenic, and .5 grains of lead to the pound. The greengrocer was fined £l. —(A. and N.Z.)
