AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
THE FEATHERSTON CLUB. THE FORTHCOMING MEETING. (“The Age” Special). At a general meeting of the Featherston Amateur Athletic Club final arrangements were made for the sports meeting to be held on the Featherston Recreation Grounds on Saturday, February 19. Mr. A. Donald occupied the chair. There was an attendance of about 25 members. Messrs Lawson, Trustrum and Richie were appointed judges for the athletic events and Messrs Vincent, Watson and Donald, a sub-committee to decide regarding postponement n the event of a wet day. It was decided to have card programmes printed, to be sold on the day of the sports at a charge of 6d each. The entry fee for the athletic events was fixed at Is per entry. The chairman of the canvassing committee, Mr. A. Donald, reported that the amount subscribed was £B7 3s. The joint-secretaries reported that Miss Card had the matter of refreshments in hand, and that Mr. Watson was erecting a building for the purpose. It was also reported that a very strong ladies’ committee was being formed. A meeting of the ground committee and the horse events committee has been called for the week-end on the ground. The secretaries reported that the Greytown Band had signified its willingness to be present on the day of the sports, and Messrs Balfour and Kenward were appointed a musical committee.
Messrs Watson and Smith were appointed a sub committee to arrange the details of a boys’ bicycle race.
