THE PORTUGUESE REVOLT
OUTBREAK IN LISBON. CABINET MINISTERS ARRESTED. SUCCESS PREDICTED. LONDON, February 7. A revolutionary movement has broken out in Lisbon, supported by sailors, police, and Republican Guards and infantry. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Interior have been arrested. The “Daily Express’s’’ Lisbon correspondent states that Colonel Mendesreis is leading the Lisbon revolt. The rebels rapidly captured the* strategic positions in the city. The success of the movement appears to be certain, as practically all the civilians are armed and are collaborating with the revolution- ■ aries. The enthusiasm of the revolt is due to discontent in the army and with the reforms instituted by Signor Carmona’s Government.
