With the jlamour for money that exists for local body enterprises the Council canaot surely expect to receive a promise for the amount, ponding the endorscnent of the proposal by the ratepayjrs. Why not take a poll of the ratepayers so as to ensure some measuib jf success for the proposal? If the Council is in earnest it will take this iction. If tho project is turned down, ,hey will know what to do. If acepted, the Council's influence with he moneylender will have incre'aseii >y 100 per cent. The Council isked the Committee to bring down in exhaustive report at the earliest ipportunity. The Caledonian Society wishes tc told an eight mile bicycle road race. jpecial prizes for which have been offered, and has approached the Bor>ugh Council if any objection was likely to be raised towards the projosal.
