THE PRESENT POSITION

WAIRARAPA'S ELECTRIC SCHEME. Another statement in connection with the progress of the Wairarapa hydro-electric scheme yesterday. Cr. R. J. King, speaking at the Masterton Progressive League's luncheon to Mr H. Holland, of Christchurch, stated that the activities of the committee were certainly progressing somewhat slowly, but useful work was being accomplished. The petition had been forwarded to the GovernorGeneral. But the main difficulty experienced had been the question of the compilation of the rolls. The speaker noped that the work would be finished in about two months, when the election of the Board would then take place. Masterton would have two representatives on the Board, and the other districts one each. Mr King assumed that the district would proceed with the Waiohine scheme, as little help could, be expected from the Government projects.
