Mr G. Bowen, of the Spring Ranching Company, Alberta, Canada, is at present a visitor to Masterton.

Mr A. D. McLeod, M.P., was present at the Masterton Bacing Club's meeting at Opaki on Saturday last. The flag was flown from the staff of the W.F.C.A. in Masterton on Saturday, out of. respect to the memory of the late Mr D. J. Nathan, who was for a considerable period a director of the Company. Mr F. B. Ward, of the Department of Agriculture, and. the newly appointed agricultural officer for the Wairarapa, was a visitor to the district during the week-end. On Saturday afternoon Mr Ward addressed a meeting of fanners at Carterton. The funeral of the late Mr. Herbert Beale took place on Saturday, afternoon in the Masterton cemetery. The gjjavcßide service was conducted by the Bev! J." Cocker, and Mr. Bitter read the impressive ceremony of the Bechabite Lodge, of which deceased was a member for many years. A very pleasant evening was spent in Murrayis Hall, Masterton, on Saturday evening, when several visitors to the town, including Mr Wallace(Mayor of Motueka), Mr G. Bowen (Canada), and Mr J. Fitzgerald lington), were entertainbed by Mr Fred. Jensen. Numerous toasts were honoured, and excellent music was provided.

Mr David J.- Nathan, head of the Glaxo Proprietary, a director of 'the' Bank of New Zealand, and formerly Chairman of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, died suddenly at the Bowen street hospital on Saturday. The deceased was well known in Masterton, and was for years* a director of the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd. It was unanimously decided At Saturday's meeting of the. Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society to request Mr Chas. Elgar, of Featherston, to address the Society on May 15th in connection with his recent visit to England. During his visit Home, Mr Elgar took a lively interest in the meat situation, and no doubt he w'll have 1 some very interesting matter to place before the meeting.
