A BOOKMAKER FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) J WELLINGTON, Last Night. ' Mr Riddle, S.M., gave judgment today in a cas& in which Harry Wales was charged with betting on the licensed premises of Clarendon Hote.l The Magistrate said the evidence was sufficient to show that the defendant was a bookmaker, and had made bets through a barman. The maximum penalty for a first offence, as provided in the statute, was £2O, and defendant would be fined ■ that amount. Ail appeal is to be lodged.
