THE MEAT MARKET. Messrs Melisop, Elliott and Co., agents for Gilbert Anderson and. Co., report under date October K)th, 1913: Homo supplies have been light, and not of good quality, but Dutch continue to be snipped in liberal quantities. Prices -show no change from last week, viz., Beef: Scotch 6|d —7d, English o^d—o|d, Irish 5-J-d —6d, Canadian 52-d —6d. Mutton: Scotch 7jd—--Bd, English 6£d—Jfd, Dutch s}d—--6H, English ewes sd—s£d. Tegs: Scotch 7jd—SJd, English 7d—7£d, Dutch sJd—6jd. Lamb; Scotch Hill 6id-7R Dutch 6d-7d: Veal 6d9d. Pork 7d—Bd.- Frozen.—The course of trade has shown little variation. The call for New Zealand lambs, of which there are still plenty, is very poor, and prices have again fallen. Australian new season lambs have made their first appearance and fetch up to s{;d. The quantity is small, however, the bulk arriving- in November and following months. The mutton marked remains unchanged with the exception of N.Z. ewes, which show a decline of l-16d by reason of good supplies of Australian. Colder weather has stimulated the demarioT for beef, chilled being considerably firmer. Large quantities of beef are being shipped to the States. SMTTHFIELD PRICES.
