POSITION IN DUNEDIN.
RESOLUTIONS NOT TO STRIKE
DUNEDIN. Last Night. A largely-attended meeting of the Metal Workers Assistants Union tonight carried the following resolutions unanimously: (1) That this union demands that the Massey Government settle this strike on the terms originally submitted by the employers and accepted by the United Federation of Labour. (2) That this resolution be forwarded, to the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition, and to the local newspapers. It was also decided to set up a committee to investigate and assist any cases of distress amongst.; the members of the union. A special meeting of the Dunedin Tinsmiths and Coppersmiths and Sheet Metal Workers' Union carried a resolution as follows: "That this union sympathises with the waterside workers and other unions now on strike in the endeavour to maintain clear unionism; also that the union communicate with Sir Joseph Ward, urging him to. insist on . legislation being passed to settle the present crisis."
