CONFERENCE ABORTIVE.
CAUSE OF THE DEADLOCK. THE ARBITRATION ACT PROVISION. (By Telegraph—Prat Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. It was announced soon after the conference of masters and men resumed thus ■ afternoon that the efforts at settlement had proved abortive. The adjourned conference only lasted five minutes. It is understood that insistence by the employers on the Arbitration Act provision was the cause of this deadlock.
