The conference between the empl oyCrs' and strikers' delegates proved abortive, thus nwn refusing to resume work under the Arbitration Act. It Is understood that an effort wilt bo made to-day to work one of the Home liners with free labour, and free labourers are being engaged in the country to proceed to Wellington.
